Om een beetje sfeer te proeven van Puerto Montt is de vismarkt van Angelmo aan de haven een goede plek. Deze vismarkt ligt ten zuidwesten van het centrum.
Ook kunnen vanuit Puerto Montt verschillende mooie dagexcursies worden gemaakt zoals tochten naar de Osorno vulkaan, de Petrohue watervallen en het Alerce Andino National Park.
De stad kenmerkt een midden Europese architectuur met hoge daken en sierlijke balkons. Het oudste gebouw van de stad bevindt zich op de plaza van de stad en is de Redwood Kathedraal.

Meest zuidelijke stad van Chili. Hier komt men graag om te genieten van het landschap dat bestaat uit gletsjers, meren en fjorden. Punta Arenas is een gemeente in de Chileense provincie Magallanes. Punta Arenas telt ca. 135.000 inwoners.

Punta Arenas ligt in het zuidelijke puntje van Chili, bij de Straat Magellaan. Het is ook de 3e grootste Punta Arenasstad van heel Patagonië. De naam Punta Arenas is afgeleid van het Spaanse Punta Arenosa (“Zanderige Punt”). De meeste inwoners van Punta Arenas zijn van Spaanse, Portugese, Kroatische, Britse of Scandinavische afkomst. In de Chileense zomer (januari en februari) komt men graag naar Punta Arenas om te genieten van het landschap dat bestaat uit gletsjers, meren en fjorden.

Jaarlijks komen zeer vele cruiseschepen in de haven Puntas Arenas. Het is de laaste stop voor de zeer avontuurlijk oversteek naar het indrukwekkende Antartica.

Ushuaia is de laatste jaren explosief gegroeid. De stad telt al meer dan 50.000 inwoners. Met het populair worden van cruises naar de Zuidpool en het bereizen van Patagonië, bleek Ushuaia een prima uitvalsbasis. De meest zuidelijk gelegen stad ter wereld heeft niet echt veel te bieden, maar de plek waar het ligt, biedt toegang tot de meest ruige natuur die maar denkbaar is. Daarom is Ushuaia een plaats waar avonturiers elkaar ontmoeten. De sfeer is er ongedwongen en je voelt dat je onder gelijkgestemden bent.

Cape Horn is a rocky headland on Hornos Island, in southern Chile’s Tierra del Fuego archipelago. It’s surrounded by wild seas off the southern tip of South America where the Pacific and Atlantic oceans meet. The albatross-shaped Cape Horn Monument commemorates the lives of thousands of seafarers who perished attempting to sail around the cape. A secluded lighthouse and the tiny Stella-Maris Chapel are nearby.

Het natuurgebied de San Jose Golf is de trekpleister van Puerto Madryn. Misschien ziet u wel de zeeleeuwen of de pinguïns voor het eerst echt in uw leven! Dit eens zo rijke land (Argentina = land van zilver) maakt al sinds jaar en dag een crisis door, die, als zo vaak in Zuid-Amerika, zijn oorsprong vindt in politieke en economische tegenstellingen. Argentinië was vroeger bekend als vleesnatie (grote steaks en corned beef) met begrippen als pampa’s (de uitgestrekte Argentijnse weidevlakten) en gaucho’s (synoniem voor de Amerikaanse cowboys) maar vandaag de dag is de vleesproductie sterk teruggelopen.

Montevideo is de hoofdstad van Uruquay en werd in de 18de eeuw alleen gesticht om voor Spanje als voorpost tegen de Portugese ambities te dienen. De weelderige stijl waarin Montevideo gebouwd is Belle Époque, rococo verleent haar een zekere charme en komt Europeser over dan die van Buenos Aires. Ook de levendigheid op de straten en in de cafés en de vriendelijkheid van de bevolking hebben in grote mate bijgedragen aan dit beeld van de stad.

De stad bestaat uit de Oude Stad, dit is het gedeelte rondom het Plaza Matriz, het Plaza Independencia en de Avenida 18 de Julio en de Nieuwe Stad met enkele mooie villawijken en aantrekkelijke parken.
