Mediterranean from Venice

Venice, home of romance, well known as the city of water, also knows as “La Serenissima.”
The port of Venice and the city itself looks out towards the Adriatic Sea. The city of the Doges is situated in the middle of a lagoon, has more canals than roads and boasts incredible beauty and a unique charm derived from centuries of history. The best way to see the city and to discover and admire the palaces and churches is to travel along the canals in a gondola. This will take you to Piazza San Marco, the site of the Doge’s Palace, a jewel of Venetian architecture. Alternatively, art lovers can explore the Pinault Foundation in the Palazzo Grassi, before continuing with their cruise in the Mediterranean.

Vandaag de dag is Split een levendige stad met ongeveer 200.000 inwoners, en verdwalen in het doolhof van straatjes is de beste manier om het historische centrum te verkennen. Ontdek bij toeval levendige cafés en winkels die weggestopt zitten in het oude paleis of wat verder de drukke pleinen en markten, stille paden en prachtige stranden.”

Aan de Adriatische kust vind u de havenplaats Bari. De stad is opgedeeld in een oud en nieuw stadsdeel die beide veel te bieden hebben. Het oude gedeelte van deze universiteitsstad is in goede staat gebleven en heeft talrijke pleinen, kerken, een kasteel en een gezellig nachtleven. In het nieuwe gedeelte, met een opvallend rechthoekig straatpatroon, vind u het Archelogische museum en een geweldig winkelgedeelte. Bari is tevens de laatste rustplaats van Sint Nicolaas, die nu beschermheilige van de stad is. Vlakbij Bari kunt u druipsteenformaties in de Grotte Castellane gaan bekijken.
